Business Sales Process
Once you are ready and able to sell, KWS have a tried and tested strategic sales process – designed to get the most for your business as possible.
On all occasions, KWS sell businesses strategically. This, along with other considerations, will maximise the amount you receive for your business.
Traditionally accountants would place a valuation on your business driven purely by financial calculations. However, a strategic sale commands a premium price and your Business deserves a premium price.
Business owners are often surprised at the range of buyers that are interested in buying their company. The owner may know some potential buyers but thorough “buyer research” often uncovers a “must have” buyer willing to pay more much more.
KWS have an extensive database of UK companies together with regular contact with a large number of entrepreneurs, professional acquisition advisory firms and trade buyers.
KWS seek to clearly understand the needs of the owners and the nature of their business in order to formulate an effective marketing programme. In addition to this, detailed desk based research is undertaken to identify suitable trade prospects to maximise the possibility of interest based on those believed offer the best fit.
Businesses are also advertised for sale on this site along with other national websites listing businesses for sale, giving you the best possible chance of your business being seen by the right buyer.
You and KWS should never underestimate the length of the sale process, the disruption caused, management time required and the pressure it puts on the owner.
KWS will be on hand to support you through the process, after all success is not achieved until the final document is signed.
The key stages of the KWS process are:
Stage One – Discovery – This initial stage is all about getting to know you and your business, why you are selling and what you hope to achieve. KWS will also explain how they work, the charges, conduct some initial research into the marketability of your business and provide some guidance as to its potential value.
Stage Two – Marketing - Using an extensive database and existing contacts, KWS turn suspects into prospects by identifying and contacting a number of carefully selected candidates with a Sales Teaser designed to elect enquiries for your business. KWS will then find out which of the prospects are serious and suitable for you, protect your identity through a confidentiality letter and draw up a detailed prospectus for your business. They will work with the group of potential buyers and seek to receive bids for your business.
Stage Three – Completing – now KWS are looking to negotiate and firm up bids for your business and to decide which bid to proceed with. KWS will liaise with all parties concerned to hold the value through to completion and achieve a successful sale.
